I just did that SL 15 Survey…
What does it all mean?
First of all, don't worry! Nobody has ever been seriously injured or traumatized by our SENSEI LEADER surveys!
The SL 15 is designed with these major objectives in mind:
-
it's a tool for self-reflection
-
Provoke meaningful discussion––especially at SENSEI LEADER events
-
Inspire growth
You need to know that your personal results are never discussed and we NEVER share your identity and individual responses with ANYONE without your consent. EVER!
Here are a couple of things you should know about the SL 15…
First, it's a self-assessment. Experience has taught us that it does provide a remarkably accurate portrait of you as a leader in the three key areas of practice we emphasize in THE SENSEI LEADER Program: Courage, Compassion and Wisdom.
Having said that, we'll only know if other people think you're a courageous, compassionate and wise leader if we ask them!
And we can do that. We are glad to provide you with a 360 degree assessment––all you have to do is ask.
Next, there are no "right or wrong" answers. Well––not too many anyway!
Above all this survey is designed to give you a good look in the mirror. The questions are carefully crafted to reveal your strengths and areas for improvement in these key areas.
Having said that, there is a wide range of responses that can indicate effective leadership. We're sometimes treading on cultural "artifacts." This means a "right" answer in one culture may mean something completely different in another.
In our workshops, we probe more deeply into this area to help you determine exactly the type of culture you want to promote and how.
What it "means" is up to you!
Answer as honestly as you can and you'll have powerful insights into your strengths as a leader and even more important, areas where you want to grow and develop.
If you identify areas for growth, this doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you!
Well––it might, but not necessarily! The best leaders never stop learning, growing and developing––especially those who embrace THE SENSEI LEADER philosophy!
"Perfection is not a destination. It's a never-ending process!"
That's the mindset of the best, most effective leaders. It's not a matter of if you should continually strive to be better, it's just a matter of choosing which area you want to work on next.
Take the survey again in a few months and see if your results change a bit!
I hope you enjoyed taking the SL 15 and I sincerely hope it will be a powerful tool in focusing your continual pursuit of personal and professional Mastery!
Best Thoughts!
Jim
